Accumulating snow is on the way for tomorrow for the I-95 corridor from DC to Philly to NYC. One wave of low pressure in the northern stream will phase in with a second, southern stream system to generate a Mid-Atlantic storm that should move off the SE Virginia coast tomorrow afternoon to a position east of New Jersey by later tomorrow night. Snowfall amounts should end up on average in the 2-4 inch range in and around the Philly and NYC metro regions with isolated spots of 5 or 6 inches possible. In the nearby interior South Jersey suburbs of Philly, accumulations will be slightly lower as there will be some mixing of sleet and rain with the snow. Farther south, the northern and western suburbs of DC should have enough snow to end up in the 1-3 inch range and slightly lesser amounts of a coating to a couple of inches are likely in the District and nearby south and east suburbs due to some mixing. The timing for the precipitation to arrive is as follows – DC: 3-6am; Philly: 6-9am; NYC: 9am-12pm. The snow winds down late in the afternoon or early in the evening from the southwest to the northeast so it’ll end first in DC and last in NYC. Stay tuned to thesiweather.com for updates.
