1:50 PM | Snow closing in on the DC metro region

Discussion
Snow continues to advance to the east from western and central MD and VA and will likely reach the DC metro region between 2 and 3 PM. It has just started snowing in Loudoun County and has been far awhile in Hagerstown, MD and Charlottesville, VA. Accumulations and deterioration in roads will happen quickly after the snow begins given the extreme cold ground-level conditions. Snow moves out of here this evening as this system is a rather quick mover with accumulations on the order of 1-3 inches. The higher amounts for the snowfall accumulations will be from the District to points north and east and the lesser amounts will be south and west of the District.
