1:30 PM | "Boys of Summer" may need to be called the "Boys of Late Winter" come this weekend in Florida

The “boys of summer” might be more appropriately called the “boys of late winter” by this weekend at all of the central and northern Floridian spring training sites. The overall weather pattern in the eastern US does not show any signs for prolonged spring-like temperatures in the near future. In fact, a cold shot will move into the East later this week and it will penetrate all the way down south into Florida by this weekend. This very well could turn into the coldest weather of the season so far in portions of central and northern Florida so anyone planning a spring break or spring training trip this weekend or early next week better come prepared with sweaters and jackets. The time period for this cold shot in Florida will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday with highs generally in the 50’s and lows way down in the 30’s in northern and central Florida. A freeze is possible all the way down to Orlando during this cold wave and there is even an outside chance for snow showers across northern or central Florida. On the positive side, cold waves don’t last too long in Florida so expect a rebound by the middle of next week; however, the overall pattern looks like it’ll stay on the chilly side well into March in the eastern US.
