The latest stretch of wet weather in the Tennessee Valley will last right through the upcoming weekend and into the first part of next week. An upper-level trough of low pressure will stick around for the next few days and won’t weaken until the early part of next week. As a result, some spots could receive several inches of rain over this stretch on top of already well-saturated grounds.

The weather becomes much more unsettled over the next few days as high pressure ridging gives way to an upper-level trough of low pressure that will make it over northern Texas and Oklahoma by tomorrow night. As a result, showers and thunderstorms will become quite likely on Thursday and the threat may last right into the early part of next week. Temperatures will approach 90 degrees later today, but will likely to be confined to the mid 80’s during the upcoming cloudy and rainy stretch of weather in the Tennessee Valley.

High pressure ridging continues to dominate the scene across the Southeast US and we’ll have another hot and rain-free day in the Tennessee Valley, but it becomes much more unsettled as the week progresses. Deep moisture surges into the region at mid-week as a strong upper-level disturbance slides across the region and our chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase. The rain threat will continue later in the week and it looks like a good chance for more rain this weekend.

Deeper moisture surges into the region at mid-week as a strong upper-level disturbances slides across the region and our chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase. Meanwhile, the 2019 Atlantic Basin tropical season “officially” began on Saturday, June 1st and there is a disturbance in the southwest Gulf of Mexico that has a chance of strengthening into a named storm in coming days as it moves northward along Mexico’s west coast and then near or along the east coast of Texas.

A cold front moved through the region late yesterday and its passage has ushered in a much more comfortable air mass for the next couple of days. High pressure will build into the region today and nice weather will continue on Wednesday as well. A warm front will arrive late tomorrow night and it can be accompanied by some shower and thunderstorm activity going into the day on Thursday. It’ll turn warmer during the second half of the week with highs generally near 80 degrees.
