12:10 PM | Threat for showers and strong thunderstorms increase this afternoon and evening
Paul Dorian
Showers and strong thunderstorms have developed this morning from south-central to northeastern Pennsylvania and these will continue to move slowly to the southeast over the next few hours. The main threat for these showers and strong thunderstorms around here will be from around 2PM or so until late this evening and any of these storms can contain heavy rain and strong, gusty winds. This rain band is associated with a cool frontal system that is headed our way from the Great Lakes region. Once the front passes through the Mid-Atlantic region during the overnight hours, drier air will move in from the west and Tuesday and Wednesday promise to be much more pleasant days compared to recent weather conditions. The price to pay, however, for the improvement in the weather will be the showers and strong thunderstorms that will affect much of the region later this afternoon and evening; especially, in the western and northern suburbs of the big cities along I-95.
