The threat continues for a powerful Nor’easter on Wednesday and Thursday and it will unfortunately directly affect the storm-ravaged regions of the Mid-Atlantic. It appears that a storm will develop just off the Southeast US coast on Tuesday and then it will ride up along the east coast reaching near SE VA by early Wednesday and then near Long Island, NY by Thursday. This track will bring significant rains and winds to coastal regions and significant snows in inland locations from central Maryland/Virginia northward into Maine. There is even the chance that the rain changes to accumulating snow in the big cities along the I-95 corridor as the storm pulls to the northeast. Wind gusts along Mid-Atlantic and Northeast US coastal regions could reach 60+ mph during the height of the storm. All computer forecast models are now in general agreement that this will be a significant mid-week Nor’easter.
