A long-wave trough of low pressure will slide into the middle of the country later in the week and this will increase chances here for showers and thunderstorms from tomorrow into the first part of the weekend.

High temperatures later today could reach the mid 80’s and it’ll stay very warm for the next few days. This will also be quite an unsettled week around here as multiple fast-moving waves of energy will bring us multiple shots at showers and thunderstorms.

An upper-level trough will shift to the east of here today and our weather should improve nicely going into what looks like a pretty promising weekend. After a chilly night, sunshine this weekend ill boost temperatures well up into the 70’s on both afternoons. As high pressure ridging builds here early next week, temperatures will make a run into the 80’s for highs in the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday time period.

An upper-level trough will intensify today over the Tennessee Valley as the combination of northern and southern stream energy pushes east from the middle of the country. As a result, showers and thunderstorms are likely in this region later today and tonight and high moisture content in the lower levels of the atmosphere can help to generate some heavier rain bands - perhaps even a strong thunderstorm or two. The upper-level trough will shift to the east of here on Friday and the weather should improve nicely going into what looks like a pretty promising weekend.

The deep upper-level low pressure system that trekked slowly across the southern states last week is finally exiting today off the Mid-Atlantic coastline and our weather here in the Tennessee Valley will turn out to be quite nice to start the new week. The best chance for rain this week looks like it’ll come from Thursday into Friday as a southern stream system moves across the nation and reaches the eastern third later in the week.

Deep upper-level low pressure will slowly grinds its way towards the east coast today and we’ll experience much cooler conditions on its backside with lingering showers still possible. In fact, high temperatures should be confined to the low-to-mid 50’s this afternoon compared to the 80 degree mark on Thursday. The heavy rainfall and severe weather threat that was in our area last night will shift to the east coast later today and we’ll end up with a pretty decent weekend in the Tennessee Valley.
