7:00 AM | *Cooler today following passage of frontal system...Mother's Day looking wet*

Paul Dorian

A cool front passed through the region in the overnight hours and today will turn out cooler with a low-level flow of air from off the Atlantic. This front will meander in the Mid-Atlantic region through tomorrow keeping it somewhat unsettled and then another cold front will arrive on Friday. The late week frontal system is liable to cause showers and thunderstorms as we close out the work week and the weekend is likely to start off on a decent note. However, there are strong signs that point to another possible Sunday washout – somewhat similar to what we experienced last weekend.

7:00 AM | *80 degrees on the table for afternoon high temperatures*

Paul Dorian

A cool front will approach the region tonight and it’ll have trouble pushing through as it’ll align with upper-level winds. This front will meander in the Mid-Atlantic region on Wednesday and Thursday keeping it somewhat unsettled and then another cold front will arrive on Friday. The late week frontal system is liable to cause showers and thunderstorms as we close out the work week and while the weekend may start off on a decent note, more rain is possible as we close out the upcoming Mother's Day weekend.

7:00 AM | *A brief break in the wet pattern as we begin the new week*

Paul Dorian

After a weekend that featured soaking rainfall, there will be a break in the action for the next couple of days as high pressure follows the departing low pressure system. It will become unsettled again later this week as a series of fronts will impact the region. The first front arrives late tomorrow as a cool front and this system will meander nearby during Wednesday and Thursday. Another cold front will approach from the west on Friday raising the chances for end-of-week showers and thunderstorms.

7:00 AM | *A soaking rain event this weekend*

Paul Dorian

A back door cool front has passed through the region once again and today will turn out cooler than yesterday with some light rain or drizzle this morning and an afternoon shower or thunderstorm is possible. Showers and thunderstorms are possible again tonight as a cold front arrives in the region and this front will then stall in the Mid-Atlantic this weekend. Low pressure will pull out of the Tennessee Valley on Saturday and ride along the stalled out boundary zone and right towards the Mid-Atlantic region. As a result, more rain is likely here from late tomorrow into Sunday afternoon and some of it can be heavy at times; especially, in the overnight hours. Nicer weather will return early next week as high pressure follows the departing weekend low pressure system.

7:00 AM | **Big warm up today following passage of warm front...possible late day/early evening showers/storms**

Paul Dorian

A frontal system to our south this morning will push northward as a warm front later in the day and temperatures are likely to soar into the lower 80’s in the Philly metro region. Showers and thunderstorms are possible later today and again tonight and then are likely to threaten us later tomorrow and tomorrow night as a cold front approaches the area. That cold front will then stall in the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend and a wave of low pressure will bring more showers and thunderstorms here from later Saturday into early Sunday and this system has the potential for some heavy rainfall.

7:00 AM | *Looking like rain chances will continue right into the weekend*

Paul Dorian

An onshore flow of air and persistent cloud cover today will knock several degrees off the temperatures compared to Tuesday, but then we’ll turn noticeably warmer on Thursday afternoon with highs likely to be near 80 degrees. A frontal system to our south today will push northward as a warm front early Thursday and then another (cold) front will arrive on Friday night. That front will stall in the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend and a wave of low pressure will bring more showers and thunderstorms from later Saturday into early Sunday.

7:00 AM | *Warmer today and the chance for late day or evening showers and thunderstorms*

Paul Dorian

High pressure will lose control of the weather around here today and a frontal system will meander in the Mid-Atlantic region for much of the week and weekend. As a result, our temperatures will tend to bounce up and down with today and Thursday becoming quite warm, but it’ll be cooler on Wednesday as low-level winds become southeasterly for a short time. Also, there will be multiple shots at showers and thunderstorms this week as this frontal system oscillates in the region, but much rain-free time as well.

7:00 AM | *An unsettled week with multiple shots at showers and thunderstorms and an up and down temperature pattern*

Paul Dorian

The new week will start off with high pressure in control, but it will have a short-term benefit as an overall active weather pattern will bring us multiple shots at showers and thunderstorms this week. A frontal system will meander around the Mid-Atlantic region for much of the week and result in an up and down temperature pattern and occasional showers and thunderstorms. A cold front may arrive at the end of the week and this could end the spell of unsettled weather and perhaps lead us to a decent weekend.

10:00 AM (Friday) | **Strong-to-severe thunderstorm threat later today/early tonight…strong winds late tonight and Saturday will follow the passage of a strong cold frontal system**

Paul Dorian

There will be numerous bands of showers and thunderstorms today in the Mid-Atlantic as the combination of strong surface low pressure, a warm front and a cold front impacts the region.  One line of storms in particular could reach the I-95 corridor region later in the afternoon and early evening hours with strong-to-severe thunderstorm activity and any these cells can produce damaging wind gusts, hail and flooding rainfall.  Following the passage of the cold front, temperatures will drop dramatically in the overnight hours and winds will become very strong from a northwesterly direction.  The strong winds will continue on Saturday to go along with cooler conditions and partly-to-mainly sunny skies.

7:00 AM | **Occasional rain and thunderstorms today and there can be a strong-to-severe late day/early evening thunderstorm...very windy late tonight and Saturday as cooler and drier air pours in**

Paul Dorian

Low pressure will push to our northwest today and the combination of a warm front this morning and a cold front late today will bring us occasional rain and thunderstorms and a possible late day/early evening line of strong-to-severe thunderstorm with the most likely timetable between 4 and 8PM. Any late day/early evening thunderstorm can produce damaging wind gusts, torrential rainfall with localized flooding, and there is even the threat for isolated tornadoes. Temperatures will warm up later today following the passage of the warm front, but will drop dramatically late tonight after the cold frontal passage and winds will whip out of the NW towards morning. Strong winds are to continue on Saturday to go along with mainly sunny skies and cooler conditions. Another cold front arrives on Sunday and it too can result in some shower activity for the Mid-Atlantic region. An overall active weather pattern will bring us additional chances for rain around here later next week.
