7:00 AM | *Wet start to the holiday week and a wet start likely to Thanksgiving Day*

Paul Dorian

A cold front will pass through the region early today and high pressure will build across southeastern Canada from later today into Tuesday. As a result, we’ll take a downturn in temperatures with highs in the 50’s early today, but then confined to the middle 40’s on Tuesday. This high pressure system will lose control around here at mid-week and showers are likely to arrive by Wednesday night associated with low pressure to our northwest and they could last into Thanksgiving morning.

It will turn cooler on Sunday following the passage of a cool front and there can be some shower activity late in the weekend and into the day on Monday.

10:30 AM (Friday) | *Cold air outbreaks for Mid-Atlantic/Northeast US early and middle next week*

Paul Dorian

The unseasonably warm conditions of last week and the earlier part of this week will be but a memory in the Mid-Atlantic region and Northeast US by the time we get to the middle of next week. One strong cold front will arrive on Sunday night and usher in a chilly air mass for the middle of November as we begin the new work week and then a secondary cold front will push through by late Tuesday and pave the way for an even colder air mass by mid-week. Many spots in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast US have already experienced at or below-freezing temperatures this season, but, if not, additional opportunities will come on both late Tuesday night and late Wednesday night of next week.

7:00 AM | *Turns cooler today following the passage of a slow-moving cool front*

Paul Dorian

A slow-moving cool front will push through the region today and temperatures will hold steady or even drop some after reaching highs in the early morning. High pressure will build over the region on Friday and into the weekend and it’ll be noticeably cooler than the record-warmth experienced here earlier in the week. Another frontal system will approach the area late in the weekend and it could bring with it some shower activity before high pressure takes over again early next week.

7:00 AM | *Slow-moving cool front produces first significant rain event around here in awhile*

Paul Dorian

Our extended stretch of warm and rain-free weather will come to an end today as soaking rainfall is approaching the area ahead of a slow-moving cool front. The steadiest rain is likely to develop this afternoon and continue into Thursday with some heavy at times. High pressure will follow the cool frontal passage and it’ll anchor a cooler air mass for the late week; especially, when compared to our recent abnormally warm weather. After a cool and dry start to the weekend, another low pressure system to our southwest could impact the area with more rainfall by Sunday.

7:00 AM | *Another day with possible record warmth...dry spell ends on Wednesday/Thursday as a slow-moving cool front arrives*

Paul Dorian

Our extended stretch of warm and rain-free weather is about to come to an end as some decent rain should fall from later tomorrow into Thursday and then it’ll turn cooler as we end the work week. A slow-moving cold front will be the culprit behind the mid-week rain event and then high pressure that follows will anchor a cooler air mass compared to recent days. After a cool, dry start to the weekend, another low pressure system could impact the area with more rainfall on Saturday night and Sunday morning and this system could get a boost from leftover moisture associated with Tropical Storm Eta.
