A cold front will slide across the region today bringing with it a few showers, maybe even a rumble of thunder…not a significant rain event. The passage of the cold front will usher in another chilly air mass to the Mid-Atlantic region for the remainder of the second half of the week. Temperatures are likely to drop into the 30’s in many suburban locations by early tomorrow morning and again early Friday morning, and there can be some more in the way of patchy frost.

A major temperature pattern change begins later in the weekend with a big-time warm-up for the eastern states. Temperatures around here on Sunday afternoon should climb to well up in the 70’s and 80+ degrees is possible on Monday.

An unsettled weather pattern begins on Thursday with an increasing chance of showers and perhaps even some strong-to-severe thunderstorm activity in portions of the area. Any thunderstorm from tomorrow into Friday can contain damaging wind gusts and generate large hail. It remains somewhat unsettled into the weekend and turns noticeably cooler with temperatures likely confined to the 50’s on both days.

High pressure will push to the east of here during the next couple of days leading to some warm weather conditions across northern Alabama for the late week and weekend. After highs later today and on Thursday afternoon in the middle to upper 70’s, 80+ degrees is likely on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It should be generally dry during the weekend, but the chance of showers and thunderstorms will likely increase during the first part of next week.
