No significant changes to the overall snow outlook for tomorrow afternoon and evening in the Mid-Atlantic region as it continues to look like a general 1-3 inch snowfall from DC-to-Philly-to-NYC and also for coastal (shore) locations in New Jersey. The approximate timetable for the widespread snow event is as follows: noon to 9pm in the DC region, 2pm to 2am in the Philly and NYC metro regions. The snow will be a dry, light, fluffy kind of snow that is easy to shovel as it’ll be quite a cold atmosphere throughout the entire event. The snow should stick rather quickly given the extreme cold ground conditions and untreated roads will likely slicken up rather quickly as well.
The weekend will feature quite cold conditions following this late week system and then milder air will try to move into the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday. That transition from the weekend cold to milder air early next week will be quite difficult at first and the result could be some light snow, sleet, freezing rain and/or plain rain on Monday. By Tuesday, and for at least part of Wednesday, the milder air wins out, but then colder air returns to the Mid-Atlantic region Wednesday night or Thursday.
