7:00 AM | Very moist and unsettled pattern to continue for the next several days

Paul Dorian

Slow-moving sub-tropical low pressure over the Southeast US continues to result in deep layers of tropical moisture over Florida and in much of the eastern third of the nation. This will continue to result in occasional showers and thunderstorms across central Florida and the wet pattern is likely to last all the way into the first half of next week. Some of the rain will be heavy at times over the next couple of days and flash flooding concerns will continue.

Paul Dorian

Slow-moving sub-tropical low pressure (Alberto) over Alabama continues to push deep layers of tropical moisture northward into Florida and much of the eastern third of the nation and it will continue to result in occasional showers and thunderstorms across central Florida. Some of the rain will be heavy at times over the next couple of days and flash flooding concerns will be on the rise and the pattern remains quite unsettled later in the week as well.

7:00 AM | *Keeping an eye on the tropics*

Paul Dorian

The “official” start to the Atlantic Basin tropical season is June 1st, but it could get off to an early start. There are signs that the tropics will come to life by this upcoming weekend with a possible system near Florida or over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The new work week will start off with some tropical moisture remaining in the area and this will keep us somewhat unsettled with a continuing shot at showers and thunderstorms. An Atlantic Ocean ridge of high pressure will set up early this week and build westwards towards the Florida Peninsula and then we'll be monitoring the tropics later in the week.

7:00 AM | A continuation of warm and unsettled weather around here...keeping an eye on the tropcs

Paul Dorian

Slow-moving sub-tropical low pressure continues to push deep layers of tropical moisture northward into Florida and much of the eastern third of the nation and it will continue to result in occasional showers and thunderstorms across central Florida. Temperatures will be rather consistently warm over the next several days with highs generally reaching the middle 80’s across much of central Florida. Looking ahead, it looks like the tropics will come to life in about a week or so and there may be a system headed towards Florida or the eastern Gulf of Mexico

7:00 AM | *Deep tropical moisture remains in place across central Florida*

Paul Dorian

Low pressure over the eastern Gulf of Mexico has pushed deep layers of tropical moisture into the region and it will continue to result in occasional rain and thunderstorms across central Florida. Some of the rain can be heavy at times with an additional couple inches possible by later tonight. Any thunderstorm that forms over the next couple of days could contain tropical downpours and frequent lightning.

7:00 AM | *Excessive rainfall amounts next couple days with tropical system...strong-to-severe thunderstorms a possibility as well*

Paul Dorian

Low pressure over the eastern Gulf of Mexico will intensify today and spread deep layers of tropical moisture our way. As a result, with daytime heating setting in, numerous heavy showers and strong thunderstorms are likely today, tonight and tomorrow in much of Florida. Excessive rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches are possible from this system by late Tuesday. Any storm that forms over the next couple of days could reach severe levels and brief tornadoes are possible.

7:00 AM | *Heavy rain event headed to much of Florida late weekend/early next week in an unfolding wet pattern*

Paul Dorian

A soaking rain event is headed to much of the Florida Peninsula later this weekend and into the early part of next week. In fact, the overall weather pattern is looking quite wet for Florida and much of the Southeast US for potentially the next couple of weeks or so. An inverted trough of low pressure currently stalled over the Bahamas will work its way westward this weekend to over the Florida Peninsula. As a result, moisture will increase this weekend at all levels of the atmosphere and the result should be showers and thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday with some of the rain falling heavily at times.

7:00 AM | *Soaking rain event headed towards Florida*

Paul Dorian

High pressure over the western Atlantic will continue to have an influence on our weather in central Florida, but the overall pattern will transition this weekend to one with a greater chance for rain. A weak inverted trough of low pressure currently stalled over the Bahamas will work its way westward this weekend to the Florida Peninsula. As a result, moisture will increase this weekend at all levels of the atmosphere and the result could very well be a soaking rain event from this weekend into the early part of next week.
