Yesterday turned out to be a very warm day in the Mid-Atlantic region with many areas flirting with the 80 degree mark for afternoon highs. While not as warm today, it’ll remain on the mild side with temperatures climbing through the 60’s this afternoon in the Philly area. A strong cold front heads this way later Thursday and this system is likely to generate numerous showers around here and maybe a strong thunderstorm or two from later tomorrow into late Friday. High pressure heads this way for the weekend with cooler conditions on Saturday and then mild weather for Sunday and Monday.

Today will be cooler in the NYC metro region as a southeasterly low-level flow develops and afternoon temperatures are likely to peak near the 60 degree mark. The Denver area enjoyed a warm day on Thursday and it’ll remain so today as well with afternoon highs in the low-to-mid 70’s…a good day for the Rockies home opener at 2:10pm. The winds will be a big factor today with gusts to 40 mph possible and it remains very windy well into the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will take a plunge on Saturday following the passage of a cold front with the 70’s today being replaced with the upper 40’s for highs as we begin the weekend and there can be rain and/or snow showers.

After a mild day to close out the work week with highs near 60 degrees, it turns milder this weekend and temperatures should top out in the low-to-mid 70’s by Sunday afternoon.
