7:00 AM | **Showers and strong thunderstorms are on the table during the first half of next week in the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys**

It stays mild today, but more unsettled with a good chance of afternoon and evening showers. The weekend will start off a bit cooler, but end up rather mild and there should be some sunshine on both days. Showers and thunderstorms will likely become rather widespread late Monday into Tuesday across the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys and we’ll have to monitor the possibility for some severe weather activity.

A very nice day is in store for northern Alabama with plenty of sunshine and temperatures climbing into the lower 70’s. It stays mild on Friday, but become more unsettled with the chance of showers and that shower threat will continue on Friday night. The weekend, however, is shaping up quite nicely with at least some sunshine expected on both days and temperatures to the 60’s on Saturday and near 70 degrees on Sunday.

7:00 AM | *A cold start to the day, but sunshine boosts temperatures to well up in the 50's this afternoon*

A cold start to the day, but mainly sunny skies will boost temperatures to afternoon highs in the mid or upper 50’s. It turns even warmer on Wednesday with plenty of sunshine boosting afternoon temperatures to near the 70 degree mark. It stays relatively mild during the second half of the week and the potential exists for quite a nice weekend across the Tennessee Valley. One final note, spring officially gets underway later tonight at 11:06 PM.

7:00 AM | *Noticeably colder today with a brisk NW wind*

A strong cold front passed through the region on Sunday and has ushered in a colder-than-normal air mass that will keep temperatures confined to around 50 degrees for afternoon highs. Mainly clear skies tonight will allow for ample radiational cooling and late night temperatures falling in the upper 20’s which could help contribute to more widespread frost in the region. Milder weather returns for the mid and late week time periods as will the threat for some shower activity.

One final note, spring officially gets underway on Tuesday, March 19th at 11:06 PM.

A frontal system will push across the area today and generate showers and possible thunderstorms into the evening hours and some of the rain can be heavy at times. The weather settles down this weekend and both days should feature some sunshine and relatively mild conditions. It turns noticeably cooler for the first half of next week following the passage of a cold frontal system.

10:30 AM | ***A Denver snowstorm…severe weather threat Mississippi Valley…spring fever alert for the Mid-Atlantic region***

From a climatological point of view, March is a favorable time of year for accumulating snow in the Rocky Mountain States and it looks like “climatology” will come through this year. March is also quite an active month on average in terms of severe weather and indeed, an outbreak is possible later tomorrow and tomorrow night across the Mississippi Valley. Meanwhile, the Mid-Atlantic region will enjoy back-to-back-to-back unseasonably warm days featuring temperatures in the 70’s in many spots and spring fever may spread rapidly.

The next couple of days will be quite nice across the Tennessee Valley with high pressure in control. Temperatures this afternoon should reach the low-to-mid 70’s and the upper 70’s are likely on Thursday. The weather pattern becomes more unsettled later in the week with the chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday night and Friday…some of that rain can be heavy at times.
