7:00 AM | Probably the nicest day of the week

Paul Dorian

Today will probably turn out to be the nicest day of the week with high pressure in control producing some sunshine and comfortable temperatures for this time of year. A cold front will approach the region on Friday and then stall out nearby this weekend. As a result, the chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase as we head into Friday night and that threat will continue through Saturday night. Temperatures should remain relatively comfortable through the weekend and into the early part of next week.

7:00 AM | Pretty decent weather next couple days...weekend looks iffy (once again)

Paul Dorian

A cold front passed through the region last night and high pressure will take control around here for the next couple of days resulting in overall nice weather conditions. Another cold front will approach the region on Friday and then likely stall out near here this weekend. Perhaps not surprisingly, the weekend is likely to become quite unsettled (once again) given the nearby frontal boundary zone and showers and thunderstorms are likely to threaten for at least part of the time. Strong high pressure to our north is likely to push the stalled out frontal boundary zone southward early next week resulting in improving weather conditions.

7:00 AM | Strong storms possible late today with approach of cold front...weekend looks shaky once again

Paul Dorian

A cold front will approach the region later today and it is likely to generate some shower and thunderstorm activity from later this afternoon into the evening hours. While this will be a quick hitting event and little in the way of total rainfall amounts, there can be a few isolated strong storms with gusty winds and even some possible hail. Following the nighttime frontal passage, high pressure will take control of our weather on Wednesday and Thursday with quite nice weather conditions expected across the Mid-Atlantic region albeit a bit cooler-than-normal. Another frontal system will bring a return of unsettled weather as we end the work week and enter the upcoming weekend and no doubt, showers and thunderstorms will threaten on both weekend days as that is what it does around here in this particular spring (it would be the 7th weekend in a row with some rain).

7:00 AM | Comfortable temperatures this week for the early part of June

Paul Dorian

The week will start off on a cool note for the beginning of June and it should stay relatively comfortable through much of the week. Low pressure near the Mid-Atlantic coastline this morning will pull away today to the northeast and sunshine will return to the region following the unsettled weekend. A cold front will approach late tomorrow and pass through the area tomorrow night and it should be accompanied by some shower and thunderstorm activity. High pressure will then take control on Wednesday and Thursday with quite nice weather conditions expected across the Mid-Atlantic region. Another frontal system will bring a return of unsettled weather as we end the work week and begin the upcoming weekend.

7:00 AM | *Yet another unsettled weekend as moist pattern continues into next week...cooling trend begins on Sunday*

Paul Dorian

Another wet weekend is coming to the region and this will be the sixth in a row – certainly not an easy year to cut the grass. The grounds are already well saturated in the NYC metro region after recent rains and any additional significant rainfall can result in localized flash flooding. Tropical moisture is deeply entrenched in the eastern third of the nation and multiple disturbances over the next few days will “squeeze out” the abundant moisture in the atmosphere resulting in occasional downpours and embedded thunderstorms. It’ll turn noticeably cooler on Sunday and this cooling trend will continue for much of next week in the Northeast US.

12:55 PM | *Yet another wet weekend coming to the I-95 corridor*

Paul Dorian

**An important note on the weather web site: there will be some big news tomorrow as Vencore Weather is moving to a new home...stay tuned**

Overview
It has been a hard year to cut the grass.  The I-95 corridor has had five weekends in a row with rain and this upcoming one will become the sixth. Tropical moisture is entrenched in the eastern US and multiple disturbances in the upper atmosphere will head our way from the Midwest over the next few days and “squeeze out” this abundant moisture in the atmosphere likely resulting in some tropical downpours.

7:00 AM | *Wet pattern continues through the weekend*

Paul Dorian

The grounds are already well saturated in much of the Mid-Atlantic region after recent soaking rains and there is more significant rainfall on the way. Tropical moisture is riding northward from the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico and it is now firmly entrenched in the eastern third of the nation. Disturbances in the upper atmosphere will head our way from the Midwest over the next few days and tap into this abundant moisture and the result will be occasional showers and embedded thunderstorms and some of the rain will fall heavily at times.

9:50 AM | **Tropical moisture riding northward from the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico to likely result in significant rainfall around here next five days**

Paul Dorian

The grounds are already well saturated in the DC-to-Philly corridor after recent soaking rains and there is more significant rainfall on the way.  Tropical moisture is riding northward from the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico and it is now firmly entrenched in the eastern third of the nation. Disturbances in the upper atmosphere will head our way from the Midwest over the next several days and tap into this abundant moisture and the result is likely to be downpours later this week and during the upcoming weekend.

7:00 AM | Wet pattern will develop for the second half of the week and weekend

Paul Dorian

High pressure will push off the east coast later today and this will open the flood gates for more tropical moisture to advance northward from the southeastern states. As a result, the threat for rain will increase by later tonight and there can be some significant rain around here during the latter part of the week and during the upcoming weekend. In fact, this wet pattern looks like it will continue right into the early part of next week.

7:00 AM | *There is the potential for significant rainfall later in the week as tropical moisture pushes northward*

Paul Dorian

There is the potential for significant rainfall later this week as the remains of Tropical Storm Alberto interact with other slow-moving systems in the eastern US. High pressure will try to control our weather through much of Wednesday, but once it shifts off the Northeast US coastline, the flood gates will be opened for tropical moisture to push northeastward from the southern states. The heaviest rain threat likely comes in the Thursday to Friday night time period.
