7:00 AM | *Dry weather pattern continues through the week in the Mid-Atlantic region*

Paul Dorian

The main theme of the weather this week will be “dry, dry and more dry” with little chance of rainfall around here as has been the case all month long. High pressure remains in control as we begin the new work week and the next system of note will be a cold front that passes through on Wednesday night…without any rainfall. Temperatures will climb well up in the 70’s today and to near 80 degrees tomorrow afternoon, and then cool down later in the week following the mid-week frontal passage.

7:00 AM | *Warming trend begins today...temperatures get back to the upper 70's/lower 80's for highs early next week*

Paul Dorian

After a stretch of chilly weather, temperatures will begin to climb as we end the work week with today’s highs back up in the low-to-mid 70’s. By the latter part of the weekend and the early part of next week, we’ll see afternoon high temperatures near or even slightly above the 80 degree mark and there should be plenty of sunshine on a daily basis.

7:00 AM | **A much colder air mass pushes into the region as we end the work week...rain will accompany the transition this afternoon and evening...some snow possible this weekend**

Paul Dorian

A much colder air mass will push into the area today and the transition will come with occasional rainfall during the afternoon and evening hours. In fact, it’ll turn cold enough by the early part of the weekend for some snow and there can be accumulations across the I-25 corridor and eastern plains. A warming trend begins late in the weekend and afternoon highs should return to 70+ degrees early next week.

6:15 AM | *Warmer and continued very dry in the Mid-Atlantic region for the upcoming weekend*

Paul Dorian

Very strong high pressure throughout all levels of the atmosphere remains parked over southern Canada and it will keep us dry and comfortable for the next several days along with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures have been running at well below-normal levels for the past few days, but will begin a climb today featuring afternoon highs well up in the 60’s, and then 70+ degrees is possible on both weekend days. The dry weather pattern continues in a month that has featured very little, if any, rainfall in the DC-to-Philly-to-NYC corridor.

8:30 AM (Thursday) | *“Rain, rain, go away”...scratch that...”rain, rain, come this way...pour down for even just a day”*

Paul Dorian

October can be a dry month in the Northeast US with the usual overall cooling down of the atmosphere, but this one has been pretty ridiculous. While tropical moisture has inundated the Tennessee Valley/Appalachians and Southeast US during the past couple of weeks, nary a drop has fallen in the DC-to-Philly-to-NYC corridor and there is not much reason for hope in the next week or so. Perhaps...just perhaps...there may be some decent rainfall here around the end of the month as a strong cold frontal system heads this way from central Canada.

7:00 AM | *The weekend is shaping up quite nicely with warmer conditions and plenty of sunshine on each day*

Paul Dorian

The chilly air mass of the past few days will modify by week’s end and temperatures are likely to climb back to near 70 degrees on Friday and into the 70’s this weekend. The next several days will feature plenty of sunshine as the recent dry weather pattern continues well into next week. One other note, the comet will remain visible in the western sky during each of the next few evenings assuming favorable sky conditions and a “dark enough” environment...look to the west about 45 minutes after sunset.

7:00 AM | **Turns much cooler by the weekend and occasional rain is likely during the transition...snow showers likely in nearby higher elevations**

Paul Dorian

The overall pattern around here has been warm and dry in recent days, but important changes arrive by the weekend. A colder air mass will push into the area on Friday night and the transition will likely come with occasional rain. In fact, it’ll turn cold enough by the early part of the weekend for some snow shower activity across the nearby higher elevation locations. One other note, the comet will remain visible in the western sky during each of the next few evenings assuming favorable sky conditions and a “dark enough” environment...look to the west about 45 minutes after sunset.
