7:00 AM | ***More wintry weather coming to the region this week and it can include significant snow accumulations***

Paul Dorian

An active and wintry week of weather will continue here with the chance of rain showers later today and then snow showers later tonight and early Wednesday and small accumulations will be possible. The second half of the week can bring significant snow accumulations to the area as multiple storm systems may have an impact here between mid-week and the early part of the weekend. The details still have to be ironed out for later this week, but significant snow will be on the table from Colorado-to-New Mexico.

7:00 AM | *Warmer today and a possible record breaker on Wednesday with highs near 80 degrees...a widespread late weekend rain event is actually on the table*

Paul Dorian

A warm front lifted northward through the region late yesterday and it’ll turn warmer around here for today and Wednesday. After high temperatures near 60 degrees to start the new work week, they’ll climb to the middle 70’s today and then to near 80 degrees on Wednesday which will be in record-breaking territory for some spots. The next front to arrive here will be a cold front and its passage will usher in slightly cooler air for the late week time period.

Looking ahead, the weekend may actually feature the first widespread rain event in several weeks for the Mid-Atlantic region. Strong low pressure will push up to the northwest of here and this system may draw some tropical moisture (“Rafael”) into the Mid-Atlantic region...something that would be quite beneficial to our moisture-starved part of the country.

7:00 AM | **Warm and unsettled around here next several days with multiple chances of showers and storms**

Paul Dorian

The overall pattern remains quite warm and unsettled around here with high temperatures during the next several days near 80 degrees and the occasional shot at showers and thunderstorms. Strong upper-level troughing will push east across the nation’s mid-section during the next few days and it’ll push some warm, humid and unstable air into northern Alabama which will lead to the threat of showers and thunderstorms from time-to-time.

10:45 AM | ***A wild week of weather across the nation...severe weather outbreak to include tornadoes...significant snowfall in the Rockies...tropical activity***

Paul Dorian

The calendar has flipped to November and the first full week of the new month will feature some wild weather across the nation. First, a severe weather outbreak is likely later today into late tonight across the nation’s mid-section and this includes the threat of tornadoes from Texas to Missouri. Second, accumulating snow is likely across the Rocky Mountain States, and it can be significant during the latter part of the week across Colorado and New Mexico. Finally, a surge of tropical activity has begun in parts of the Atlantic Basin and a tropical system now intensifying over the Caribbean Sea is likely to become a hurricane by later in the week as it heads towards the Gulf of Mexico.

7:00 AM | *Turns warmer for Tuesday and Wednesday following passage of warm front*

Paul Dorian

A warm front will lift northward through the region later today and it’ll turn warmer around here for Tuesday and Wednesday. After high temperatures in the lower 60’s to start the new work week, they’ll climb well into the 70’s on Tuesday afternoon and to near 80 degrees on Wednesday. The next front to arrive here will be a cold front and its passage will usher in cooler air for the late week time period. Both of these frontal systems – warm front early in the week and cold front at mid-week – should pass through the Mid-Atlantic region without much, if any, in the way of rainfall.

7:00 AM | ***A wintry week of weather across much of the Rocky Mountain States***

Paul Dorian

Low pressure will bring some more snow to the region early today with limited additional accumulations and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark. The second half of the week can bring significant snow accumulations to the entire area as multiple storm systems may have an impact between Wednesday and Saturday. The details still have to be ironed out for the second half of the week, but a very wintry week of weather is in the cards for much of the region from Colorado-to-New Mexico…stay tuned.
