7:00 AM | *Cold and windy today with the chance for snow showers*

Paul Dorian

It’ll be quite cold today across the Denver metro region and there can be some snow shower activity as well. Temperatures will likely be confined to the low-to-mid 40’s for afternoon highs and the winds will produce even lower wind chill values with gusts past 30 mph or so. It turns milder for the second half of the week with highs back up in the 50’s on Thursday and Friday and potentially the 60’s on Saturday.

7:00 AM | *Nice day here at mid-week with a mix of sun and clouds and a mild afternoon...decent rain event from later tomorrow into tomorrow night...very windy on Friday and colder*

Paul Dorian

High pressure will control the weather in the Mid-Atlantic region for another day providing us with plenty of sunshine and a very mild afternoon. A strong cold front pushes into the area on Thursday and low pressure will form along the Mid-Atlantic coastline. As a result, a decent rainfall is likely here from later tomorrow into tomorrow night with 0.5” to 1.0” on the table. Colder air will follow the frontal passage to close out the work week with very windy conditions featuring gusts to 50 mph or so.

A strong cold front pushes into the area on Thursday and low pressure will form along the Mid-Atlantic coastline. As a result, a decent rainfall is likely here from late tomorrow into tomorrow night with 0.5” to 1.0” likely and it is not out of the question that the rain mixes with or changes to snow before it ends across some of the far northern and western suburbs…small accumulations are possible across NW NJ and the Poconos. Colder air will follow the frontal passage to close out the work week with very windy conditions featuring gusts to 50 mph or so.

7:15 AM | *The Great Blizzard of March 18-21, 1958…one of the worst snowstorms ever in eastern Pennsylvania*

Paul Dorian

March is known to feature some crazy and surprising weather and the 1958 blizzard that occurred in the Mid-Atlantic region between March 18th and 23rd was indeed rather unexpected. In general, forecasts on the morning of March 18th had no mention of snow. This was in an era before computer forecast models were being utilized by weather forecasters on a daily basis and it was even before satellite imagery existed which could aid in the forecast. By afternoon on that particular day, the light rain had changed into huge, wet snowflakes and - for the next few days - history was being made.

7:00 AM | *Warmer today and then the next cold front can bring showers here late tomorrow/tomorrow night and even a strong thunderstorm*

Paul Dorian

After the active weather of the past weekend, the week started off on the cool side, but temperatures this afternoon should reach more comfortable levels and peak near the 70-degree mark. The warm weather conditions will continue on Wednesday, but there will be a chance of PM showers as a cold frontal system heads in this direction. On the back side of the front, temperatures on Thursday are likely to be confined to the lower or middle 50’s for highs despite plenty of sunshine in the area.
