Sunday 9:50 AM | **It ain’t over till it’s over…accumulating snow late tonight/early Monday...second threat continues for next weekend**

Paul Dorian

This is no April Fool’s joke…accumulating snow is coming to much of the I-95 corridor late tonight and early Monday. There have been two threats to monitor for this upcoming week in terms of the potential for snow and the first one is indeed going to result in accumulating snow and the second threat is still definitely on the table for next weekend.

11:25 AM | **Despite the current warmth, accumulating snow is actually on the table for late Sunday night/early Monday**

Paul Dorian

Temperatures at mid-day on Friday are near 70 degrees in the DC metro region and in the 60’s in the Philly and NYC metro regions, but next week continues to look quite different with colder-than-normal air masses headed our way. In additional to the colder air masses, there are two snow threats that will have to be monitored – one late Sunday night into early Monday and then another is possible at the end of next week or next weekend.

7:00 AM | Front works its way through the region today...decent weekend coming...rain/snow possible late Sunday night/early Monday

Paul Dorian

A cold front will slide through the region today and there will be an occasional shower, maybe even an isolated thunderstorm.  High pressure will take control for tonight and Saturday, but then another cold frontal system may touch off a rain shower early Sunday morning.  Low pressure will push to our south late Sunday night and early Monday and it could bring some snow and/or rain to the region - even an outside chance at small snow accumulations in northern sections of the metro region.

7:00 AM | 70 degrees likely today for highs in the DC metro region

Paul Dorian

The warmest weather in weeks will arrive today and it'll continue into Friday following the passage of a warm frontal system. It may be a struggle, but afternoon temperatures should reach the 70 degree mark; especially, across southern sections of the DC metro region, and it'll stay quite mild early Friday just ahead of a cold frontal system.  That cold front will slide through the region by mid-day and the afternoon could see some clearing skies as winds pick up following morning showers. Cooler air moves into the region for Saturday and then another frontal system could produce a rain shower around here on Sunday morning. By Monday, weak low pressure will move to our south and there could be some rain and/or snow shower activity in the DC metro region. One final note, the Orioles open up this afternoon and temperatures could make it to the 70 degree mark by the first pitch (Nats opener in Cincinnati has been already postponed until tomorrow).

2:35 PM | *A couple interesting threats to monitor for the next week or so*

Paul Dorian

There will be a noticeable warm up on Thursday in the I-95 corridor with 70+ degrees possible in the DC metro region and 60+ degrees in Philly, but then a cold front slides through the region on Friday and cooler air will arrive for the weekend. Another frontal system will arrive on Sunday and this will step us down a bit more in temperatures for the early part of next and there will be additional cold air outbreaks later next week.  In addition to the colder pattern, we'll have at least a couple of low pressure systems to monitor in terms of snow for parts of the Mid-Atlantic region.  One wave of low pressure could generate a swath of rain and/or snow on Monday and then a second - and perhaps stronger system - will need to be monitored for the latter part of next week or the following weekend.

7:00 AM | An unsettled few days with showers possible at just about any time

Paul Dorian

The next few days will be warmer, but quite unsettled as a series of fronts will impact the region.  As a result, there can be showers at just about any time from today through Friday, but then drier conditions are likely to return by the weekend.  A cold front will pass through on Friday and usher in drier air for Saturday and it’ll turn cooler as well with highs confined to the 50’s on both weekend days.

2:20 PM | **”It ain’t over till it’s over”…cold pattern continues well into April and snow still a threat**

Paul Dorian

There will be a noticeable warm up over the next few days in the Mid-Atlantic region, but it looks like this will be just a temporary spring tease as colder-than-normal conditions are likely to return for the first ten days or so of April and some signs point to a colder-than-normal pattern continuing much longer than that - perhaps even into May. In addition to the cold, there will likely be some close calls with respect to snow in the I-95 corridor in April and it is just too early to give an all clear on that particular front.

7:00 AM | Unsettled few days with multiple shower threats

Paul Dorian

Clouds will dominate today as a warm front pushes north from the Tennessee Valley and there will be the threat for showers later today into Wednesday.  It’ll turn warmer for the second half of the work week, but showers will continue to threaten the area as a cold front approaches from the middle of the country.  That cold front will usher in cooler air for the weekend and the overall pattern for the first half of April will be colder-than-normal for most of the northern half of the nation and southern Canada.

7:00 AM | It turns warmer and wetter this week

Paul Dorian

It’ll turn warmer this week with temperatures climbing to near 50 degrees on Tuesday and perhaps into the 60’s on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, but it’ll turn wetter as well with multiple chances of showers.  High pressure pushes to the east as we begin the new week and this will allow for the return of somewhat milder air, but moisture will also head our way from the southern states and several fronts will approach the region.  The strongest front (cold) of the week is likely to arrive on Friday with showers and it’ll usher in a colder air mass for the upcoming weekend.

11:20 AM | **April to start with a “wall of cold”**

Paul Dorian

There will be a noticeable warm up next week in the Mid-Atlantic region, but it looks like it’ll be just a temporary spring tease as colder-than-normal conditions are likely to return in time for the beginning of April and they may continue right into the middle of the month. A colder-than-normal air mass will first appear later next week across southwestern and south-central Canada and then expand south and east so that by next weekend there will be a “wall of cold” virtually covering all of southern Canada and the northern US including right here in the Mid-Atlantic region.
