A strong cold front pushed through the Mid-Atlantic region on Thursday causing heavy rain and strong thunderstorms, but its painful passage will pave the way for a nice stretch of weather. In fact, the next several days will feature plenty of sunshine in the Mid-Atlantic region on a daily basis with low humidity and comfortable temperatures for the latter part of September.

On the back side of the front, an extended period of nice weather is in store for the Mid-Atlantic region, but it’s going to be painful for many before we get to that point.

The showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous on Thursday and Thursday night and some of the storms can reach severe levels with damaging wind gusts and even isolated tornadoes on the table. Flash flooding is an increasing concern in the Mid-Atlantic region given the already well-saturated grounds from recent significant rain events.
