Temperatures on Wednesday afternoon could peak in the upper 90’s to go along with sunny, dry and breezy conditions increasing wildfire concerns. The weather is likely to become more unsettled again during the upcoming weekend with an increasing shot at showers and thunderstorms.

The weather remains quite warm today with afternoon highs near the 90 degree and the wildfire concerns will continue throughout the region. Temperatures will get knocked some on Thursday only to rebound back to 90 degrees at the end of the week. The overall pattern does turn noticeably cooler for the late weekend and early part of next week.

The weather turns hot today with afternoon highs likely well up in the 90’s and winds will increase from a S-SW direction gusting up to 30 mph or so. The combination of heat and high winds increases the chance of wildfire conditions across the area. There may be a bit of a cool down for tomorrow and Thursday and then more substantial relief is likely to come this weekend.

Sometimes during the month of June, the jet stream retreats safely to the north into Canada, and the weather settles down across the continental US...that certainly does not appear to the case this year. Upper-level troughs of low pressure and colder-than-normal air masses continue to drop into the US from Canada, and this is resulting in severe weather outbreaks and there will be an enhanced threat during the next few days. Next week promises to feature another impressive upper-level trough by June standards that will no doubt be impactful with more severe weather threats and widespread cooler-than-normal conditions.
