7:00 AM | *A windy and warm stretch of weather*

Paul Dorian

An extended period of warmer-than-normal weather has begun in central Florida and it’ll be accompanied by stiff winds as well for much of the time. The dominant weather feature will be a strong ridge of high pressure over the western Atlantic that will promote persistent southwest winds in the upper atmosphere across the Florida Peninsula which will keep any cold air well to our north. High temperatures will reach the upper 70’s today and then come close to the 80 degree mark for the next several days.

3:00 PM (Thursday) | *Major storm to impact the central and eastern US next few days…hazards to include heavy rain/severe weather in the warm sector...significant snow/ice on the cold side*

Paul Dorian

A major storm is going to become a multi-hazard event for much of the eastern half of the nation during the next few days. The storm will begin to unfold on Friday in the south-central US and then trek northeast to a position near the Great Lakes by Saturday evening and then over New England on Sunday.  Heavy rain and severe weather is likely to take place south and east of the storm track and significant snow and ice is likely to its north and west. The impact in the I-95 corridor will be to bring unusually warm conditions this weekend with highs generally in the 60’s and there will be some rainfall, stiff winds, and perhaps a heavy thunderstorm or two.

7:00 AM | *A windy and warm stretch of weather on the way for central Florida*

Paul Dorian

High pressure will build off the east coast over the next couple of days and it’ll lead to a windy and warmer period around here. As we progress through the late week and weekend, winds will pick up in intensity out of the southeasterly direction and temperature will climb well up into the 70’s. In fact, 80 degree highs will be on the table for the late weekend and early part of next week in this continuing relatively warm weather pattern.

Paul Dorian

After a nice day today, a cool front will cross the region tonight and it should come through rain-free. Wednesday will be a bit cooler following the front, but as a large ridge develops over the southwest Atlantic, a warming trend will begin later in the week. Along with the warm up at week’s end, the winds will pick up in intensity out of the southeast and this will increase moisture in the region.
