11:00 AM (Monday) | **Some accumulating snow tomorrow afternoon/evening in the DC-to-Philly-to-NYC corridor**

Paul Dorian

Low pressure will pull out of the Tennessee Valley early tomorrow and head towards the Mid-Atlantic coastal waters and the result is likely to be some accumulating PM snow in the DC-to-Philly-to-NYC corridor.  Temperatures will be borderline in the I-95 corridor region in terms of snow versus rain on Tuesday, but odds favor snow in the metro regions and nearby suburbs or a changeover from a mix of rain and snow to all snow soon after the precipitation begins.  The low will push away from coastal waters of New Jersey tomorrow night and another cold air outbreak will make it into the Mid-Atlantic region on Wednesday.  Much like most recent cold air outbreaks, however, this chilly air mass will not last too long and it should give way to much milder conditions for the upcoming weekend and it’ll turn wet.

7:00 AM | *Some snow is possible for tomorrow afternoon and evening*

Paul Dorian

There is a chance for some snow around here tomorrow afternoon and evening as low pressure forms over the Ohio Valley and heads towards the Delmarva Peninsula coastline. Temperatures will be borderline for tomorrow’s system in terms of rain versus snow, but odds favor mainly snow in the metro region and nearby suburbs - perhaps on the order of a coating to an inch or two. In the wake of the system, anther cold air outbreak will make it into the region at mid-week, but the new chilly air mass will be gone by the end of the week and upcoming weekend which should turn noticeably milder and wet.

11:20 AM (Sunday) | *”Clipper” system to produce snow showers later tonight north of PA/MD border…Tuesday system could produce PM snow in the I-95 corridor...turns warm and wet again next weekend*

Paul Dorian

A “clipper” system will throw some snow shower activity into the northern Mid-Atlantic region late tonight and there is the chance for some additional snow later Tuesday in the I-95 corridor region from DC-to-Philly-to-NYC.  On Tuesday, low pressure will pull out of the Tennessee Valley and head towards the Mid-Atlantic coastline.  Temperatures will be borderline in the I-95 corridor region in terms of snow versus rain on Tuesday, but odds favor mainly snow in the immediate I-95 corridor and to points north and west of there.  The low will push off the Delmarva Peninsula coastline by later Tuesday night and another cold air outbreak will make it into the Mid-Atlantic region at mid-week.  Much like most recent cold air outbreaks, however, this chilly air mass will give way to much milder conditions by the upcoming weekend.

2:00 PM (Friday) | *Multiple systems to monitor next several days, but sustainable cold air still a problem in the Mid-Atlantic*

Paul Dorian

An active weather pattern will bring multiple waves of energy across the country and into the Mid-Atlantic/NE US during the next several days, but the lack of sustainable cold air is still problematic for snow lovers.  A couple different waves of energy will consolidate in the Mid-Atlantic region on Saturday and bring more rain followed by windy and colder conditions for Saturday night and Sunday.  A “clipper” low pressure system will then drop southeastward on Sunday from central Canada to the Great Lakes and it could throw some snow showers into at least parts of the interior Mid-Atlantic/NE US from late Sunday night into early Monday.  Finally, another system - perhaps the one with the most potential for accumulating snow in the I-95 corridor - is likely to form on Tuesday over the Ohio Valley as additional waves of upper-level energy come together. This system should be able to produce some rain and/or snow in the Mid-Atlantic region by Tuesday night.  Another cold air outbreak will follow for the middle of next week, but, once again, it won’t last too long.

7:00 AM | *Multiple systems to deal with next several days*

Paul Dorian

An energetic weather pattern is evolving and we’ll have to deal with multiple systems over the next several days. A warm front has resulted in some steady light rain around here in the overnight hours, but this will diminish to just isolated showers for the next several hours. More rain is likely tonight and Saturday as low pressure forms nearby and a cold front advances towards the region. It'll turn windy and colder tomorrow night and there can be a snow shower late at night and then Sunday should be a dry day with breezy and cold conditions. A “clipper” low pressure system will follow closely and it could spread some snow showers into the area late Sunday night into early Monday and then another system will have to be watched for late Tuesday as it pulls out of the south-central US and towards the Ohio Valley/Mid-Atlantic. That system can bring snow or rain to the region by Tuesday night and it will usher in another cold air mass for the middle of next week.

7:00 AM | *Rain late tonight/early tomorrow...more rain as we begin the weekend...energetic pattern continues into next week*

Paul Dorian

An energetic weather pattern is evolving and we’ll have to deal with multiple storm systems over the next several days and cold air outbreaks. The next system of significance will bring rain here late tonight into early tomorrow as a warm front pushes northward through the region and there can be residual showers later in the day on Friday and also tomorrow night. On Saturday, low pressure will form nearby and a cold front will advance towards the region resulting in more rain around here as we begin the first weekend of January. That cold front will usher in strong winds and colder air for Saturday night and Sunday and, as the low pressure intensifies just to our northeast, there is the chance for rain changing to snow by early Sunday. A “clipper” low pressure system will follow closely and it could spread some snow shower activity into the Mid-Atlantic late Sunday and early Monday and then another storm will have to be watched for later Tuesday as it pulls out of the south-central US and towards the Ohio Valley. That system will usher in another cold air mass for the Mid-Atlantic region by the middle of next week.

7:00 AM | *Brisk and chilly to start 2020 with a touch of snow...another soaking rain event on the way for week's end*

Paul Dorian

The new year will be ushered in with brisk and cold conditions with a touch of snow possible and then high pressure will build into the region for Wednesday night and Thursday. A storm system will then impact us with rain at the end of the work week and first part of the weekend. First, a warm front will spread some rain into the area beginning late Thursday night/early Friday and then a cold front will keep us wet on Saturday. The winds will pick up noticeably by Sunday as the next cold shot arrives and we’ll have to watch a clipper system dropping southeastward across the Great Lakes early next week as it could result in some snow shower activity around here.

7:00 AM | *Brisk winds and chilly conditions as we usher in the new year*

Paul Dorian

A cold frontal system will work its way through the region today and the afternoon will feature a pick up in the winds as a chilly air mass arrives. The winds will continue to be brisk tonight and on Wednesday along with moderately chilly conditions as we usher in the new year. High pressure will then give way to another storm system for Friday and Saturday with periods of rain possible on both days.

7:00 AM | *A wet day to start the new work week*

Paul Dorian

The new work week will start off on the wet side as low pressure forms over a frontal boundary zone in the region and generates periods of rain, some of it can be briefly on the heavy side and there can be a rumble of thunder. A cold front will move through the area on Tuesday and pave the way for a cold New Year’s Eve and a cold New Year's Day. High pressure stays in control later on Thursday, but more rain is possible at the end of the week.

7:00 AM | *Showers arrives on Sunday and the rain intensifies for Sunday night and early Monday*

Paul Dorian

A weak cold front will pass through the region later today and then stall south of the area on Saturday. This same front will then turn around as a warm front on Sunday and showers are likely during the afternoon hours as temperatures climb to the 50’s. Rain is likely to continue and intensify on Sunday night and then colder air will push into the region for Tuesday and Wednesday following the passage of a cold front.
