6:00 AM | *Dry weather pattern continues into the middle of next week...decent rain event actually on the table for later next week*

Paul Dorian

High pressure will continue to control the weather around here for the next couple of days even as it pushes off the eastern seaboard. A weak cold front will come through on Friday night and it’ll knock several degrees off the temperatures with Friday’s highs likely in the lower 70’s and Saturday’s in the low-to-mid 60’s. A weak low pressure weak system is likely to fall apart by the time it reaches the Mid-Atlantic region early next week, but a stronger system looks possible later next week and a decent rain event is actually on the table.

6:00 AM | *Should stay dry through Saturday...the chance of showers will increase by early next week*

Paul Dorian

High pressure continues to dominate the scene in the Mid-Atlantic region and the next few days should feature chilly nights, comfortable afternoons, and rain-free conditions. In fact, it looks like we’ll end up with no rainfall at all in the I-95 corridor right through the last day of the month on Saturday. The chance for rain, however, will be on the increase early next week and there can be a second opportunity later next week.

**Signals for an early-to-mid November polar vortex disruption...quite a rare event for this early in the season**

Paul Dorian

In our “2026-2027 Winter Outlook” that was issued a couple of weeks ago, we focused on the strong El Nino episode in the tropical Pacific Ocean that looks to continue well into the upcoming winter season. In addition, we discussed in detail the generally favorable prospects for a polar vortex disruption during the upcoming winter; especially, during the second half of the season. Little did we know that there could be polar vortex disruption as soon as the early-to-middle part of November which would be quite a rare event indeed for this early in the season. Computer forecast models indicate there will be a weakening of stratospheric winds sometime during the first half of November indicating a slowing or disruption of the Arctic polar vortex which could have “winter-like” ramifications on the weather across the continental US later in the month or during December.
